About

Hi, I'm Abbie.

I'm a British teacher who kept running out of school holidays. Here's my story, my travel style and where I've been so far.

My story

I'm a teacher. I also decided, somewhere around my third set of school holidays, that there was far too much of the world left to see to spend every summer at home.

The “travelling teacher” name isn't about classrooms. It's about how I travel: organised, curious, and slightly obsessed with writing things down so the next person has an easier time than I did. Everything here comes from places I've genuinely been.

Placeholder section — my fuller story, with the bits that didn't go to plan, goes here.

Favourite destinations

  • Peru — the first one, still the benchmark.
  • Placeholder — the rest of my top list is coming.

Favourite hikes

  • Salkantay Trek, Peru
  • Laguna Parón, Peru

Bucket list

  • Patagonia in full
  • Antarctica
  • Placeholder — the running list lives here.

How I travel

  • Backpack, buses, hostels and the occasional splurge.
  • Hiking wherever there's a trail.
  • Slow enough to actually see a place.
